Sunday School
Sunday School - A place we memorized Bible verses and heard popular Bible Stories like David & Goliath, Daniel in the Lion's Den, and Jonah & the Whale learned with the help of felt boards. We'd also get little blue, red, or gold stars by our name for attendance, bringing our bible, or memorizing scripture. Once enough stars were accumulated, you could draw from the treasure chest.
I can almost see the Kool-Aid mustache on my face and taste the cookie I'd get at the end of class, just before we would dismiss for "big church.” Those old familiar Sunday School days seem so far away.
Recently, one of my Sunday School teachers, Joan Stryker, along with her husband, Dwight, moved into an independent living Garden Home at Wedgewood Estates. Pauline Butler, another of my Sunday School teachers, has been living in a Garden Home for a few years. I'm forever thankful for their Christian influence in my life. I've often said that when you move into Wedgewood, you become part of the family. It's not just something I say, it's reality.
I am very blessed to come to work every day and see my mom, who is a resident at Wedgewood. I've also had the privilege of working with my husband for 23 years. My son recently began working in our activity department. My grandson, Brantley, is seen often as well.
As we prepare for another Wedgewood Christmas, the decorations remind me of family members who've gone before us who've been part of this amazing place many have had the opportunity to call home.
I invite you to stop in and take a walk down memory lane. You'll see Christmas Trees, pictures, and figurines that serve as gentle reminders of past Christmases. You'll catch a glimpse of what our Wedgewood family is all about and the traditions we hold dear.
I'd love you to have the opportunity to become part of our family in the beautiful place we call home at Wedgewood Estates. I'm blessed to be surrounded by family- even down to Sunday School teachers.
