When this picture was taken, both our moms had been going through very serious health issues. My mom was going through cancer treatments. There were times throughout the process I was concerned we would lose her and we almost lost my mother-in-law to heart issues. When I look at this picture, I see 2 women who overcame. I see 2 women who love the Lord and relied on Him for strength. When I look at this picture, I am grateful for 2 strong, opinionated, and praying women.
Randy & I admire the strength of our moms. If they were only accomplished mothers, that would have been more than enough. However, their lives reflect more than motherhood. Business owner, pastor's wife, prayer warrior, amazing cook, entertainer, teacher, decorator, grandmother, and great-grandmother are just a few of the rolls that describe our moms.
Motherhood is truly an honor. There's nothing more special than getting to know the baby that grew inside you. I am so thankful I share the honor of motherhood with my own mom, sisters, and now my daughter-in-law. Motherhood is one of the greatest joys of my life. I am now privileged to watch my son and daughter-in-law experience parenthood for the first time.
Happy Mother's Day, ladies. May you be blessed as you have been a blessing to those you've raised.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellency, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:28-29
